Pietro Riccardo Tarateo is a pianist composer.
He composes, performs and teaches a broad mixture of music, blending styles that range from the wide field of classical music, to jazz, japanese music, film music, video game music and minimalism.
After winning 3rd prize in Ryan Leach's July 2022 online composition competition with the song “Clouds,” he was very motivated to start composing music professionally.
In 2023, he graduated with honors from the Trento Conservatory of Music's classical solo piano program and will soon complete his studies with two master's degrees, one in music composition for film, TV and games and the other in classical solo piano. To further improve his technical skills in music production, he is taking the sound technician course at the Musiclab Recording Studio and Professional Training Center in Turin.
He has worked on several film projects, including the soundtrack for the short film “The Roleplay of Life” by Los Angeles-based Italian director Pietro Barba.
internationality
He is a great believer in the importance of having an international perspective in one's profession, both socially and professionally.
In the course of his education he has traveled and studied in different countries of Europe, getting to know many realities and people from the most diverse parts of the world that have greatly enriched his background both culturally and socially, creating a beautiful international network of relationships and friendships.
He studied piano, organ, and jazz improvisation abroad at Kuopion Musiikkikeskus in Finland through the Erasmus+ program.
He has always collaborated with international musicians so as to enrich every aspect of his music, from the composition itself to the final audio product.
empty pages
Alongside his musical activity, he published the book of poems “Empty Pages”, which has as its cover a drawing he did in pencil. A brief description of its contents follows:
“A getaway and a quest, in a universe - that of writing - in which every word has its own meaning. An introspective journey in order to find clarity, to translate into a structured language the infinite abstraction of which human thought is capable. Empty Pages is all of these things, a collection of thoughts and reflections on what in one way or another has shaped me, a collection of events seen from the perspective of my own eyes, a stream of deep feelings experienced on my own skin, a glimpse into a world that I often struggle to understand.”
